The Office of Student Life staff and multiple departments aim to help students navigate their time at IU, providing the tools they need to be successful in school and after graduation. Students are our priority, and their health, safety, and overall well-being are our core mission.The Student Involvement and Leadership Center fosters growth and learning among all students by designing and supporting inclusive experiences and engaging opportunities that connect those we serve with the campus, the community, each other, and themselves. Housed within the IMU, the Center is home to several programs that engage the student body including student organization support, advising of key University Student Organizations, leadership programs, Second Year Experience, Late Nite programs, and Bowling and Billiards. Job SummaryThis position has the primary responsibility for oversight and support of the IU Bloomington student organization community, consisting of more than 800 organizations. Responsible for designing and administering student life initiatives to increase student engagement and involvement, foster development, build community, and improve the student campus experience. Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Provides an extensive span of professional work in advising and programming for students and student groups.
  • Provides guidance to student organizations and student leaders regarding operations, budget, leadership, activities, recruitment, registration, policies, and compliance.
  • Promotes leadership and student development through advising of individual student leaders and volunteers.
  • Coordinates Involvement Ambassador program, including hiring, training, and supervision of student employees.
  • Contributes to formation, interpretation, and implementation of student organization policies.General Responsibilities
    • Develops and implements programs and initiatives geared at improving student engagement and involvement outcomes at the program, department, or campus level.
    • Interfaces directly with students, attending student life events and programs and gathering feedback from student participants to implement in future student life initiatives and objectives.
    • Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as well as student organization leaders, on shared student life goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student life initiatives.
    • Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student life initiatives against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reports and presents to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward.
    • Plans and coordinates communications for student life initiatives to ensure student participation and inclusion.
    • May provide guidance to other Student Life Specialists; makes process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of service. QualificationsCombinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience.       • Bachelor's degree in public affairs, public health, counseling, social work, education, business, or related fieldPreferred

                • Ability to relate well with a diverse population of college students ranging from first-year students to graduate and non-traditional-aged students, including international students, and to create environments that promote and embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion
                • Ability to establish strategic goals, develop program curricula, create and assess learning outcomes, evaluate programs, and track data
                • Demonstrates competency with Microsoft 365 products including Outlook, Teams, and ExcelWorking Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.Work LocationBloomington, IndianaThis is an in-person position.Advertised Salary$46,500-$50,000 dependent upon qualifications and experience.Work HoursThe position requires some evening and weekend work and may involve travel.
