Media School at Indiana University is built on a decades-long

position reports to the director of finance and will not be a
supervisor. Job SummaryDepartment Specific Responsibilities
- Provides support to team members in navigating financial
transaction processes, making corrections, and interpreting
policy.
- Approves specific financial transactions.
- Ensures Media School SOPs are accurate and consistent with
school, campus, and university policy.
- Seeks opportunities to improve processes to ensure accuracy and
efficiency.
- Processes a series of financial transactions including
requisitions, accounting entries, and IU Foundation reimbursement
requests.
- Processes eDocs related to employment activities including
hires, renewals, and terminations.
- Processes non-employee travel reimbursement requests and
assists faculty and staff with travel and out-of-pocket expense
reimbursements as needed.
- Generates financial reports and creates dashboards as
needed.
- Drafts preliminary budgets for various operational areas,
researching past transactions and working with the appropriate
faculty and staff to forecast future costs.
- Develops reporting systems for faculty, units, and operational
areas (including centers and administrative units)
- Assists the director of finance with budget construction
process.
- Assists the director of finance with year-end close
process.
- Performs monthly and biweekly payroll audits and works with the
payroll processors to address any discrepancies.
- Performs P-card reconciliation.
- Reconciles monthly statements for IU and IU Foundation
accounts, investigates any discrepancies, and takes corrective
action.General Responsibilities
- Using knowledge and application of accepted procedures and
standards, performs financial and administrative tasks related to
managing the daily and long-term financial and/or administrative
operations of an organizational unit or an academic, research, and
teaching department within a school or college.
- Makes recommendations on policies and guidelines for
division/department activities.
- Monitors expenditures and statement of accounts to ensure
regulatory compliance and fiscal integrity.
- Manages general appropriation, endowment, federal and
non-federal grants and contracts, and gift funds.
- Develops, plans, and makes recommendations on special projects,
which may include space allocations, staffing, equipment purchases,
and long-range plans.
- Prepares operating and project budget drafts independently
and/or in coordination with other finance staff. Regularly explains
financial concepts to non-financial employees.
- Monitors division/departmental budgets and resolves or
recommends resolutions for any significant deviations from approved
budgets. QualificationsCombinations of related education and

ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and
other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves
sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office
environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to

accommodation.Work LocationThis position is based in Franklin Hall
on the IU Bloomington campus.This position is eligible to work a
hybrid schedule (mix between 2 remote workdays and 3 in-person
workdays), subject to change in the future based on university
policy and business needs. Advertised Salary$50,000-$56,000 annual
