This position will be shared between Department of Gender Studies (90%) and Race, Migration, and Indigeneity (10%).
Collaborates with the department leadership team, creating and maintaining the department course offerings schedule for undergraduate and graduate courses. By using the Registrar's on-line system, enters new and existing courses (meeting times/locations, instructors, titles, CASE credit). In collaboration with the leadership team, monitors the enrollment activity and implements any changes necessary. Helps to promote courses through communications with other IU departments and academic advisors. Communicates with Registrar's Office as needed.
Maintains and updates existing web pages, including checking and maintaining links and monitoring the website for consistency and compliance with university standards for content and design. Maintains the departmental directory. Manages all media communications (website, Twitter, Facebook). Writes and edits department newsletter to increase the department's visibility. Design promotional materials for special events and courses. Provide assistance to department administrators and instructors.
Prepares shipping and printing orders, sorts and distributes both US and campus mail. Performs a variety of secretarial and supportive duties to the Department Chair, Executive Office Administrator, and to the department as a whole. Assists with other general office duties as requested and required.
Serves as departmental payroll processor. Prepares faculty travel documents including authorizations and/or reimbursement requests.
Assists with events coordination and execution for the department as needed, including marketing of events and student outreach.
REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED and two years of office experience.
Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Experience with basic web page design and Microsoft Publisher or other web design software. Familiarity with basic HTML. Working knowledge of graphic design programs including Adobe PhotoShop and InDesign.
Bachelor's degree; working knowledge of IU systems, policies and procedures.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
This position demands full mental concentration and physical alertness in order to meet the schedule of the daily workload. Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time, including and especially at a desk to work at a computer.
Salary Range $29,348.80 - $32,989
