DepartmentRADIO-TELEVISION SERVICES (BL-RTVS-IUBLA)Department InformationThe Engineering & Operations Team of Indiana University Radio & Television Services (RTVS) seeks a motivated and knowledgeable Senior Broadcast Video Engineer (Technical Specialist) to join the team!   • Participate in a variety of standard broadcast and closed-circuit engineering duties including set up, operation and maintenance of electronic, mechanical and optical equipment in the origination, transmission, reception, and recording of audio and video signals.
  • Primary duties focus on video engineering of live multi-camera broadcasts,
  • video engineering technical shading;
  • routine maintenance on camera equipment;
  • ability to read waveform vector scopes for multi-camera setups;
  • ability to work with analog as well as digital video recorded productions;
  • remote field production and post-productions, instructional productions, and studio productions.
  • Will install and perform routine and corrective maintenance on broadcast video and audio systemsGeneral Responsibilities
    • Monitors productions and signals, determines proper operation of broadcast quality equipment, provides troubleshooting guidance, and corrects basic and complex issues involving sound quality, production playback, and file transfer.
    • Manages, designs, plans, installs, operates, and maintains video production facilities, tape and server recording and editing equipment, and lighting and stage equipment, including digital cameras, switchers, graphics, routing, recording, playback, encoding, embedding, compression, and multiplexing with multiple layers of audio.
    • Assesses equipment needs for productions, procures necessary materials, and configures installation to ensure consistent operations during production.
    • Designs and implements preventive maintenance schedules and operating procedures to maintain equipment.
    • Regularly tests, adjusts, and evaluates installed systems and approves post-production media for technical quality for release to other broadcasters.
    • May train Broadcast Technicians and/or Audio/Video Technicians on procedures and production equipment operations. QualificationsEDUCATIONRequired
      • Bachelor's degree in broadcast engineering, production engineering and/or related fieldWORK EXPERIENCERequired
        • 2 years in related fieldCombinations of related education and experience may be considered SKILLSRequired

This role frequently requires the ability to handle equipment. This role frequently requires the ability to remain stationary and ascend/descend ladders/stairs. The role requires the ability to detect items in close proximity as well as far away; discern between colors; detect objects in peripheral space of self; discern items in detail; and to have good depth perception. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.Work LocationBloomington, IndianaAdvertised SalaryThe selected candidate will be offered between $47,132.80 - $50,500.08 per year based upon experience and internal equity within the department.
