The chosen candidate will produce the weekly call-in news and public affair show Noon Edition. The journalist will also report on a number of community and regional stories and contribute to the news bureau's online presence. Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Generates show ideas, book guests and manage social media and the online presence for Noon Edition.
  • Generates content for radio, TV, and the web.
  • Attends daily story meetings.QualificationsEDUCATIONRequired
    • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)WORK EXPERIENCEPreferred
      • 1 year experience in a broadcast and/or journalism fieldSKILLSPreferred
        • In-depth understanding of journalistic principles, particularly as they apply to public media.
        • Hands-on experience in writing, reporting, editing, production and on-air delivery in radio and TV and for the web.
        • Ability to produce a television or radio news story from conception to broadcast.
        • Experience working with multi-platform technologies and the ability to adapt material to a variety of platforms while adhering to AP style guidelines.
        • Ability to function in a fast-paced 24/7/365 news environment.Working Conditions / DemandsThe person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. We appreciate your patience.Work LocationBloomington, Indiana Advertised SalarySelected candidates for interview will be asked to provide scheduling availability and other information as determined relevant by the News Bureau Chief (Broadcast Operations Leader). The selected candidate will be offered $12.50 per hour. Work HoursWork shifts will be varied through the week. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required.This is a part-time, temporary position for 6 months and it not eligible for IU benefits.Part-time employees at Indiana University may not work over 29 hours per week across all University-held positions.
