Event Ambassadors duties and responsibilities focus on positively building the brand of OVPDEMA programming and units by creating awareness on personal and organizational social media sites and representing the department at campus events.Promote upcoming OVPDEMA events, with the goal of attracting the appropriate audience. Post OVPDEMA events and programming on personal and departmental social media pages. Work with event organizers to determine appropriate event language and hashtags. Willingness to maintain professional standards of language and behavior in all social media posts. Work with writers, designers, and others to execute social media strategies. May include scheduling posts on Hoot suite. Take 5-10 photos at events and post live coverage on Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and other. Email event photos to event organizers or store on CITO, BOX, or other designated areas. Attend OVPDEMA events on behalf of the marketing and communications department. Distribute OVPDEMA program and event flyers, postcards, and posters around campus. Positively represent OVPDEMA by effectively communicating IU pride to others. Attend meetings team and project meetings. REQUIRED: Full time IU student with a 3.0 GPA.Knowledge, skills and abilities:Adaptive design eye and skill. Ability to absorb and apply constructive criticism. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Able to build and maintain rapport with faculty, staff, student, parents, representatives, and community. Able to work flexible hours. Preferred Qualifications? Marketing, journalism, or related major; Experience with professional writing or managing multiple social media accounts; Student involved in one or more OVPDEMA program (IU culture center or academic program) or other programs. Working Conditions / Physical Demands? Position predominately requires seeing, hearing, talking, listening, fingering and walking. Sitting for periods, as well as walking for periods of time exist, standing, reaching and grasping as well as lifting up to twenty pounds frequently. There are frequent close vision activities requiring reading and reviewing data as well as daily use of computer while reading and responding to electronic messages. There are frequent occasions of face to face, phone and meeting communications with students, staff, units, and others. Mental concentration is required while receiving various types of interruptions. Multi-tasking and general daily problem solving is inherent; and collaboration with others. Problem solving situations can induce stress. Evening and week end work as well as travel are required.Sunday through Saturday week-day with day and evening flexible hours. Duties and schedules are flexible as assigned by the supervisor based on programs, events, and needs of OVPDEMA. Not to exceed a maximum of more than 29 hours per week across all positions of employment held with Indiana University. Average 8-10 hours weekly. Salary Range? $12.13/hr
