Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students and staff in an educational environment. This role involves interpreting spoken communication into sign language and vice versa, ensuring effective and accessible communication between hearing and deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals. The position requires travel to multiple school locations within the area. Key Responsibilities: Facilitate clear communication by interpreting conversations, lectures, and group discussions in a classroom setting Provide real-time interpreting services during meetings, school events, and instructional sessions Collaborate closely with teachers, students, and support staff to enhance learning and participation Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards Adapt interpretations to meet diverse communication needs and educational goals Travel to various schools as assigned within the region to provide interpreting services Qualifications and Experience: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of deaf culture Previous experience as a sign language interpreter, preferably in educational settings Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple assignments with varying schedules Certification as a sign language interpreter is preferred but not required Flexibility to travel within the designated area to fulfill job duties Location:This role is based in Fishers, Indiana, with assignments at multiple school locations requiring travel.
