Position Summary:
This position will be responsible for the development of drivetrain systems and components for electric forklifts. It requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills and technical knowledge. The ideal candidate will be an energetic and adaptive person that contributes strong technical expertise to a fast-paced engineering team. Essential Position Duties:

• Participate in the design, development, and release of new and improved forklift models, options, and original OEM components
• Develop, validate, and enhance powertrain components to meet product performance and durability requirements
• Create, manage and execute development schedule for powertrain-related components in order to meet project deadlines
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to ensure safety, manufacturability, cost, quality and delivery of new products
• Work with testing group to detail necessary tests and pass/fail criteria for prototype evaluation
• Work with electrical engineering team to specify system parameters and performance targets for control system design
• Analyze FEA reports and work with CAE engineers to confirm strength of components
• Properly manage part, assembly, and drawing revisions using CAD and PLM software
• Author product specification documentation to powertrain component suppliers
• Ensure drawing quality by verifying design intent, quality control characteristics, dimensions, tolerances and clarity
• Upkeep proper engineering documentation related to critical component design information, Bill of Materials, and Engineering Change Instruction
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
• Additional duties as assignedEducation & Experience:
  • Requires BS in Mechanical Engineering or other applicable degree; graduate degree preferred
  • 5 or more years of experience in a new product development engineering role required
  • 3 or more years of experience supporting drivetrain design of mobile equipment preferred
  • 3D CAD and PLM software experience required
  • Experience with the detailed design of drivetrain components such as gears, bearings, seals, axles, castings and brakes preferred
  • Proficient in power transmission engineering concepts of gear train design principles, components, configurations, and manufacturing processes
  • High level of interpersonal skills and works effectively with cross-cultural teams
  • Excellent problem solving skills and strong analytical ability
