Job Description:

This position will be responsible for structural analyses for the structures integrity (strength, stability, and durability) of forklift trucks and components.The position requires a highly motivated individual with solid technical knowledge and strong communication skills to work closely with design and testing teams in product development and customization.Essential Position Duties:

  • Develop, verify, and execute analytical models in simulating forklift structures in both static and dynamic conditions.
  • Perform stress and vibration analysis (FEA), fatigue analysis, impact analysis, multi-body dynamics simulation, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and thermal simulation, using a variety of CAE software.
  • Interpret analytical results and provide technical guidance to improve product design to meet the specifications.
  • Provide technical support in test preparation, such as determination of strain gauge locations and orientations based on analysis results.
  • Develop evaluation criteria with testing team in verifying and validating product safety and performance, physically and/or virtually.
  • Process, analyze, and interpret test data and correlate with analysis results to refine the CAE models for better prediction.
  • Evaluate and validate structure related to custom engineering requirements.
  • Provide structural expertise in solving field issues and manufacturing problems.
  • Research, develop, and implement new simulation techniques and modeling procedures to achieve better accuracy and higher efficiency.
  • Coach and support other engineers in performing linear static FEA.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
  • Additional duties as assignedEducation & Experience:
    • Requires BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
    • A comprehensive understanding of structural mechanics fundamentals, machine design, mechanical dynamics, vibration, and fatigue theory is a must.
    • Experience with fabricated steel and cast structures. Knowledge of mechanical properties of metal and other engineering materials.
    • Ability to evaluate structural integrity using classical hand calculation, as well as finite element method.
    • Understanding of finite element theory, application, and limitation is required. Working experience with commercial FE software is highly preferred.
    • At least one year of experience in product development of mobile equipment or similar.
    • Familiar with 3D CAD and PDM software, CATIA V5 and SmarTeam a plus.
    • Working experience with advanced structural analysis, such as non-linear FEA, fatigue analysis, multi-body dynamics simulation is preferable but not required.
    • Experience in the development of CAE software user subroutine, scriptwriting, or macro creation is highly preferred.
    • Basic knowledge and experience of structural testing with data acquisition and processing are a plus.
    • Possess the technical ability to read, evaluate, understand and communicate data from drawings and technical standard documents.About Toyota Material HandlingLet Toyota take your career to new heights.
