Description Director - Americas Payroll Operations
Morgan Stanley seeks a Director for the Americas Payroll
Operations. We are looking for an experienced leader with extensive
US, Canada and Latin America legislation knowledge and expertise.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Operations Lead
overseeing and monitoring the ADP Managed Services team - assessing
and implementing process controls that align with Morgan Stanley
standards and requirements. The candidate will be a
future-thinking, strategic leader with proven records of delivering
scalable, employee-enabling payroll solutions.-- This position will
directly oversee the Payroll Production Managers processing a wide
variety of compensation wages and deductions for our employees as
per the Organization's Total Compensation framework. They will also
be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of new hires,
terminations, leave processing, employee garnishments and support
orders by the Payroll Managers.-- The suitable candidate will be
able to efficiently leverage their payroll experience while
executing government regulations, as well as, Morgan Stanley
specific policies and processes. Success in this role involves the
ability to be nimbly in order to transform our employee experience
with compliance, security and accurate reporting. In collaboration
with the Production Lead, they must be able to use critical
thinking techniques to evaluate and improve processes, balance
strategy with hands on execution as needed by the Payroll
Production staff, liaise between internal teams, external business
partners, and third-party vendors, whilst providing leadership,
coaching, and development to personnel.-- Responsibilities ---
Directs processing activities with payroll production managers
while balancing Operations & Strategy
--- Oversee ADP Managed Services activity - including file loads
and reconciliations
--- Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant and
timely manner
--- Ensure compliance with statutory reporting and filing
requirements--
--- Prepare relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end
reports
--- Review and improve payroll policies and procedures
--- Ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in
accordance with statutory requirements
--- Build strong partnerships within HR, Finance and Legal
--- Review processing of relocation expense reimbursements
--- Maintain eTime labor law and firm policy compliance
--- Analyze compensation-related data including wages and
bonuses
--- Oversee payroll transactions (e.g. via Workday) and integration
streamlining across all platforms
--- Conduct regular audits on payroll procedures and records
--- Manage payment calendars for calendar year
--- Report to Leadership on payroll issues, risks and exposures,
improvement, and process changes
--- Review and analyze general ledger data Qualifications ---
Bachelor's Degree
--- 7 to 10 years prior work experience in a fast paced NA America
Payroll or HR department environment
--- Strong Managerial/Supervisory experience
--- Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred
--- Working knowledge of Workday, ADP GlobalView and ADP eTime
--- Extensive working knowledge of Federal and State payroll
policies, including FLSA laws, overtime and termination regulations
for NA America payrolls (US, Canada and Latin America)
--- Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and
practices
--- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (advanced Excel
skills would be an asset)
--- Advanced Excel processing and interaction with IT would be an
asset
--- Individual must be able to easily learn new applications,
interpret and analyze payroll data, while being innovative and
having the ability to adapt to change.--
--- Strong oral and written communication skills required in order
to effectively resolve issues with HR, employees, Legal, etc. while
sustaining a high level of confidentiality inherent to Payroll
matters.
--- Proven ability to work in an organized manner with the ability
to manage time effectively to meet strict deadlines, at times
handling multiple tasks concurrently while maintaining proper
prioritization.
--- Just be self-motivated with the capability to think and act
independently with strong attention to detail as well as potential
risk issues.
