DepartmentVICE PRES/ACADEMIC SUPPORT (BL-VPAS-IUBLA)Department InformationAs the nation's first and only large-scale interdisciplinary, university-based initiative, the IU Center of Excellence for Women & Technology ("the Center") strives to encourage and promote the participation, empowerment, and achievement of women students, faculty, staff, and alumnae with technology tools and skills. Since technology is adjacent to all disciplines, the Center is discipline agnostic, reports to the Office of the Provost, and serves all women and their allies on campus, regardless of their field. Job Summary

  • Assists in the collaborative planning and execution of the Center's programs and events for student, staff, faculty, and alumnae alliances, including providing administrative support, marketing, and assessment.
  • Collaborates with team members to develop program objectives and create policies to meet them. Coordinates program operation with all collaborative units.
  • Monitors progress and maintains all necessary data bases.
  • Actively recruits program participants and researches new venues and methods of recruitment.
  • May provide guidance to support and temporary staff and coordinates workflow for the program.
  • Researches available grants and assists creating funding proposals that further advance support of the program. Writes grant reports.
  • Administers program budgets. QualificationsEDUCATIONRequired
    • Bachelor's degree.Preferred
      • Master's degree in higher education.WORK EXPERIENCERequired
        • Some experience in a related field.Preferred
          • 3 years of experience in higher education administration, program management, project management, event planning, and/or a related field.Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.SKILLSRequired
            • Proficient communication skills.
            • Maintains a high degree of professionalism.
            • Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.
            • Demonstrates a high commitment to quality.
            • Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

              • Proven experience planning programs, projects, and/or events in an academic setting, specifically for students, faculty, staff, and alumnae.
              • Exceptional leadership, analytical, time management, priority-setting, facilitation, and organizational skills.
              • A high level of accuracy, even under pressure.
              • Ability to work with minimal supervision.Working Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. Some evenings and weekends will be required for special events. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.Work LocationDuties are expected primarily to be performed in-person at our IU-Bloomington office during regular business hours (M-F, 8am-5pm). Our employees may work up to 2 days per week remotely once the IU Remote Work Arrangement (RWA) has been completed and approved.
