individual ideas and expression.Job SummaryThe Assistant Director
of Student Engagement and Success is integral to creating a dynamic
and inclusive Luddy and campus culture, enhancing student life, and
supporting the personal and professional growth of students. While
the focus of this role will be graduate students, the person in
this role will at times engage in school-wide activities that
impact both graduate and undergraduate students.Department-Specific
Responsibilities
- Responsible for designing and administering student life
initiatives geared at increasing graduate engagement and
involvement, fostering wellness and development, building
community, and improving student campus experience.
- Frequently interfaces directly with majority graduate students
and collaborates with staff in own department and other departments
on shared student life goals.
- Assists in training and supervises student engagement staff,
including student workers and volunteers.
- Develops and implements strategies to promote graduate student
engagement opportunities through social media, campus newsletters,
and other media channels.
- Works with other departments to help create a holistic student
experience.
- Develops and implements programs and initiatives geared at
improving student engagement and involvement outcomes at the
program, department/division, or campus level.
- Interfaces directly with graduate students, attending student
life events and programs gathering satisfaction feedback from
student participants to implement into future student life
initiatives and objectives.
- Provides guidance to graduate student organizations regarding
operations, budget, leadership, activities, recruitment,
registration, policies, compliance. Promotes leadership and student
development through advising of individual student leaders and
volunteers. Contributes to formation, interpretation, and
implementation of student organization policies.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of the
strategic plan for student engagement, aligning with the
institution's goals and mission and helpGeneral Responsibilities
- Develops and implements programs and initiatives geared at
improving student engagement and involvement outcomes at the
program, department/division, or campus level.
- Interfaces directly with students, attending student life
events and programs and gathering satisfaction feedback from
student participants to implement into future student life
initiatives and objectives.
- Collaborates with staff in own department and other
departments, as well as student organization leaders, on shared
student life goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student
life initiatives.
- Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student life
initiatives against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reports
and presents to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding
for initiatives moving forward.
- Provides guidance to student organizations regarding
operations, budget, leadership, activities, recruitment,
registration, policies, and compliance. Promotes leadership and
student development through advising of individual student leaders
and volunteers. Contributes to formation, interpretation, and
implementation of student organization policies.
- Plans and coordinates communications for student life
initiatives to ensure student participation and inclusion.
- May provide guidance to other Student Life Specialists; makes
process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of
service.QualificationsCombinations of related education and
experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required
may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the

EDUCATIONRequired
- Bachelor's degree in public affairs, public health, counseling,
social work, education, business, or related fieldPreferred
- Master's degree in higher education student affairs or related
fieldWORK EXPERIENCERequired
- 2 years in student services, higher education, or related

requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a
computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The
position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving
around an office environment and the campus. The person in this
role must be able to perform the essential functions with or

to travel to and from meetings, conferences, and professional
development opportunities for students both on and off campus.Work
LocationBloomington, IndianaAdvertised SalaryThe selected finalist
will be made an offer between $50,000 and $54,000/yr based on
experience and internal equity. Work HoursThe typical IU workday is
8am-5pm (EST), Monday through Friday although occasional weekend
and evening hours may be necessary to complete necessary work and
