Job Description:
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty:
Emergency Room Holding Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per
Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required in a
similar role. License: Must have a valid nursing license prior to
start date. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: -
Experience in PCU required. - Comfort with team nursing and
delegation with LPNs. - Ability to handle fluctuating patient
ratios and high-paced environments. Description: This is an acuity
adaptable unit. Patients receive care ranging from Med-Surg level
to PCU/step-down/ICU level of care. Ratios can range from 1:4 to
1:6 depending on patient acuity. The position involves floating to
an inpatient PCU unit. This is a boarding unit where patients are
admitted and maintained until discharge or transfer. Patients are
typically stable and transferred if they become unstable. The unit
is a 4-bed area that can expand up to 8-10 beds based on need.
Staffing varies based on patient acuity and may include a nurse/LPN
or nurse/CNA team. Team nursing is implemented on this unit with
occasional collaboration with LPNs. The RN will care for boarding
patients transitioning from the Emergency Department. The unit
experiences high admission, discharge, and transfer rates. The
nurse is expected to adapt to a high-paced environment with varying
patient ratios.
