Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 11/18/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 48 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring a PCU Registered Nurse experienced with both progressive care and MedSurg populations, requiring an active IN or compact RN license and ACLS certification. Responsibilities - Work in a mixed acuity PCU/MedSurg unit within a short-term acute care hospital - Care for cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, cardiology, endocrine, and oncology patients - Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 - Required to work 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts, with every other weekend required - Floating within hospital or to an affiliate hospital will be required as needed - No on-call responsibilities - Utilizes Cerner for charting - All private rooms equipped with overhead lifts and telemetry - Responsibilities include care of flex acuity MedSurg, progressive care, and ICU-level cardiovascular and oncology patients - First-time travelers are welcome to apply - Block scheduling may be discussed upon request - Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays - Scrub requirement is black bottoms and red top - No local candidates accepted for this position - Free parking is available onsite - Unit routinely performs post-cardiac interventions including CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, and VATS - Limited RTO auto-approval: up to 5 days - IN RN’s not permitted to work at this facility after 11/30/24, except for certain perioperative or ambulatory roles Requirements - Active IN or compact RN license required prior to start - Minimum 18 months of RN experience in a similar setting required - AHA or RQI-certified ACLS and BCLS required; NIHSS preferred - Experience in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, post cardiac surgery care, arterial line management, blood product administration, central and PICC line care and management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips required - Experience with transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVI/TAVR) and care for ventilated patients preferred - Previous charge experience preferred - Must be a graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program - Cerner documentation experience required or willingness to learn - Perm or PRN employees of the facility must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-622330.
