Job Description American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for an
Emergency Department Holding Unit float position requiring PCU
experience and current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Responsibilities - Work in an ER Holding Unit that boards stable
patients from the ED before discharge or inpatient transfer -
Acuity adaptable unit with patients ranging from Med/Surg to ICU
level of care - Patient ratios typically 1:4-6, depending on acuity
and census - Unit may fluctuate from 4 to 8-10 beds based on need
and staffing - Team nursing model with RNs and LPNs - Floating to
inpatient PCU and other units or affiliate hospitals is required -
Day shift, working three 12-hour shifts (7:00-19:30) - Working
every other weekend required - Uses Cerner EMR, with Cerner
experience required - No on-call responsibilities - Provide care to
stable boarded ED patients until discharge or inpatient assignment
- May be required to float to a PCU inpatient unit if no patients
are present in ER Holding - All travelers required to float within
the hospital or to nearby affiliates - Must work two out of three
major holidays as part of schedule - Team structure varies with RN,
LPN, and CNA staff depending on patient needs - First-time
travelers will not be considered - RTO policy allows for up to 5
days of non-holiday time off with auto-approval - Previous
permanent or PRN employees of the system must be separated for at
least 12 months before applying as a traveler Requirements - Active
IN or compact RN license in hand prior to start - Minimum 18 months
to 2 years of recent PCU experience required - Current BLS, ACLS,
and NIHSS certifications (AHA or RQI accepted) - Graduation from a
University accredited by ACEN or CCNE - Experience with Cerner EMR
required - Comfort with team nursing and delegating to LPNs - COVID
and Flu vaccinations required - Must provide two supervisor
references - Not accepting local candidates for this position
