ACLS, BLS required; NIH preferred Must-Have: Previous charge
experience preferred; comfortable with mixed acuity unit; flexible
with floating as needed Description: This position is for a
registered nurse specializing in cardiovascular intensive care. The
unit primarily cares for patients undergoing cardiovascular and
thoracic surgeries, including CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, and VATS.
Additional patient populations include those from medical-surgical,
progressive care, and oncology. Patient ratios in the ICU are
typically 1:2, with PCU ratios rarely being 1:3 to 4.
Responsibilities include interpretation and management of
dysrhythmias, post-cardiac surgery care, arterial line management,
central line care, and blood product administration. Nurses will
also titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips and manage ventilated
patients. Experience with intra-aortic balloon pumps, ventilator
management, and sheath removal is preferred. The role involves
working with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy,
respiratory services, and pharmacy. Candidates must adhere to
holiday work requirements and maintain flexibility in scheduling.
