Job Description Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A nursing opportunity is available on a mixed acuity stepdown unit providing care primarily for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients. This position requires comfort working across ICU to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) ratios, managing complex cardiac cases including post-operative care for CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, and VATS procedures. The role demands strong clinical skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management of advanced lines and drips. Qualifications and Desired Experience: - Minimum 18 months RN experience; first-time stepdown nurses considered - Current Indiana RN license and certifications: ACLS, BCLS required; NIH certification preferred - Experience with arterial line, central line, PICC line care, blood product administration - Ability to titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips - Preferred: experience with intra-aortic balloon pump, ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD/Impella), ventilator management - Previous charge nurse experience preferred - Able to work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays - Flexibility to float within scope to meet unit needs Responsibilities: - Care for patients with cardiovascular and oncologic diagnoses in private rooms equipped with overhead lifts - Monitor and manage post-operative cardiovascular surgical patients and those requiring telemetry observation - Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient care aligned with hospital protocols - Utilize Cerner electronic charting system efficiently Schedule: - 4 day shifts per week, 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM 7:30 PM) - Option for 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts totaling 36 to 48 hours weekly Location:This role is located in Bloomington, Indiana, a vibrant community known for its cultural diversity, outdoor recreation opportunities, and rich arts scene.
