Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Bloomington, IN Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,583 per week Shift Information: Days - 4 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 5/19/2026 About the Position Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar role License: Must possess a valid nursing license prior to start date Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - PCU experience - Ability to work in a team nursing environment with RNs and LPNs - Experience in managing stable patients in a high-paced environment Description: This is an ED HOLD unit position. The RN will manage patients with medical-surgical and PCU needs in an ED boarding area. It is important that the traveler is aware of and comfortable with the patient ratios and unit details. This is a float position, and the RN must have experience in a PCU setting. Patients in this unit are stable and may be discharged or moved to an inpatient unit. The RN should be prepared to manage fluctuating bed counts, which can range from 4 to up to 10 beds based on patient needs. Staffing may consist of a nurse with a CNA or a nurse with an LPN, depending on the acuity and ratio. Team nursing is employed on this unit, so the RN needs to be comfortable delegating tasks to LPNs. The unit experiences a high volume of patient admissions, discharges, and transfers throughout the day. The RN must be capable of functioning effectively in a dynamic environment with changing patient ratios. Floating to inpatient PCU units may be required if there are no patients in the boarding unit. Experience with telemetry monitoring, managing IVs, and caring for ventilated patients is essential. The RN needs to be adept at interpreting and managing dysrhythmias and administering blood products. This position requires a commitment to working every other weekend and a willingness to float within assigned areas.
