Join a dynamic campus community buzzing with excitement as it prepares for its Bicentennial celebrations in 2020.-- Located on the Flagship Campus of the Indiana University System, IU School of Public Health-Bloomington has over 170 faculty in five departments ( Indiana University is classified as an R1-Highest Research Activity university, is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU), and boasts numerous resources. IU School of Public Health-Bloomington combines aspects of a traditional university campus with a strong teaching focus and the research infrastructure of a research-intensive institution.-- The Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington (SPH-B) invites applications for multiple Tenure/Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor positions by individuals who would contribute multidisciplinary perspectives, conceptual and methodological diversity, and research leadership and mentoring to the school's efforts.-- This is part of a school wide expansion to add an additional 9-20 faculty members across all 5 departments.-- School priority areas include, but are not limited to: addictions around opioids, nutrition and obesity, infectious disease epidemiology, vector-borne disease, sexual and reproductive health, network science around personalized medicine, rural health, and health disparities. For exceptional pre-tenured faculty candidates with a research focus area on children, preferably physical activity in children, there exists the potential of awarding the endowed Gallahue Family Professorship.-- The endowed Gallahue Family Professorship is awarded for a five-year term and includes funds to support the awardee's research endeavors.--Senior level applicants with a research team are highly encouraged to apply, as cluster hires are possible. Women scholars, scholars with disabilities, and scholars from traditionally underrepresented minority groups are encouraged to apply. Each of the faculty hired will have tenure homes in a department within SPH-B; links to specific departmental websites are noted below.-- The anticipated hire date for these appointments is August 1, 2019 although this is negotiable with the ability to start earlier. Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2018 and continue until the positions are filled. The Department of Applied Health Science (AHS) comprised of 67 faculty and professional staff members, offers B.S.P.H., B.S., M.S., and/or M.P.H. degrees in behavioral, social and community health; public health administration; school and college health education; safety management; nutrition and dietetics and human development and family studies as well as a highly regarded PhD in health behavior.-- Faculty pursue research in a wide array of areas including alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse prevention, HIV/STD prevention, human sexuality, sexual and reproductive health, obesity, maternal and child health, population health, public health policy, and application of health behavior theory. AHS also houses several critical sub-units including Center for Sexual Health Promotion, Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention, Institute for Research on Addictive Behaviors and Indiana Prevention Resource Center.-- The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health is committed to the improvement of public health through evidence-based research, community outreach, professional service, and training of future research scientists and public health professionals in various environmental and occupational health settings.-- Our diverse, multidisciplinary faculty conduct laboratory and field based multidisciplinary research in environmental toxicology, risk assessment, environmental and occupational epidemiology, vector-borne disease, global environmental health and other topics of public health importance in the U.S., and other parts of the world. The department, equipped with 11 faculty and currently offers BSPH, MPH, and PhD degrees in environmental health with a new M.S. in environmental and occupational health. The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics is committed to broadening our understanding of the determinants of health outcomes and to providing statistical and methodological expertise on topics in human health. These two fields of study are the cornerstone of public health research and practice. Our faculty conduct research on a broad range of health outcomes and exposures and are seeking candidates with backgrounds that will complement our existing expertise in nutrition, genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, health disparities, vector-borne disease, and infectious disease epidemiology. Our department currently offers BSPH, MPH, and PhD degrees in epidemiology and an MPH degree in biostatistics. Successful candidates will provide evidence of the potential to secure extramural grants, conduct research, write for peer-reviewed publications, and teach undergraduate and graduate classes in the candidate's' area of expertise. The Department of Kinesiology is committed to advancing public health through the study of movement throughout the lifespan.-- According to the American Kinesiology Association and the publication Inside Higher Education, Kinesiology is one of the fastest-growing areas of study in the country. Home to over 1200 undergraduate majors, Kinesiology offers degrees in Exercise Science, Sports Marketing and Management, Athletic Training, and a BS in Public Health- Fitness and Wellness.-- The department also offers an MPH in Physical Activity, an MS in Kinesiology and a PhD in Human Performance.---- The Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies was founded on July 1, 1946 and has been a stalwart contributor to the development of research, teaching, and service in recreation and leisure behavior toward the promotion of health. Through its areas of specialization in Public, Nonprofit, and Community Recreation; Recreational Therapy; Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Management; and Outdoor Recreation, Parks, and Human Ecology, the Department works closely with community-based organizations and local, state and national agencies in cooperative research, education, and internship opportunities. Another multidisciplinary area of opportunity exists within vector-borne disease. The Department offers a variety of course offerings at the undergraduate level, both online and campus Master degree programs, and a long-standing PhD program. The Department has a variety of external research and service activities and initiatives, including the Eppley Institute for Parks and Public Lands, the National Center on Accessibility, and the IU Campus Farm. Responsibilities:-- Conduct research and engage with other faculty in collaborative teaching and community engagement efforts related to the school's priority areas. --Qualifications:-- Candidates must hold a doctoral degree from an accredited educational institution. --Candidates must also demonstrate a record of scholarly achievement appropriate for career level, including extramurally funded research, current funding or strong potential to secure external funding, the ability to collaborate across disciplines, and a positive team spirit.
