Platform Engineer Title: Sr. Eng / Staff – Cloud and Kubernetes
Architect (HIPAA Environment) Location: Indianapolis, IN with a
hybrid work model – relocation required. Role Overview We are
seeking an Engineer – Kubernetes and Cloud Architect to design,
implement, and scale a HIPAA-compliant AWS environment that will
host patient-facing applications in a highly regulated environment.
This role is both strategic and hands-on: you will architect secure
cloud infrastructure, deploy Kubernetes, scale compliance
requirements, and lead best practices across Kubernetes, AWS,
Cloudflare and AI. You will own the infrastructure end-to-end,
ensuring scalability to support enterprise healthcare workloads
while collaborating with security, compliance, and engineering
teams. Impact Design and maintain HIPAA-compliant AWS cloud
foundations for scaled k8s healthcare workloads. Stand up and own a
new AWS HIPPA ORG via control tower dedicated to patient-facing
applications. Implement Kubernetes security controls including pod
security policies, network policies, secrets management, and
container scanning. Collaborate with security, compliance, and
engineering teams to ensure infrastructure meets HIPAA, GxP, and
enterprise requirements. Deploy Lilly’s AI Platform onto our k8s
infrastructure. Manage Lilly’s LGTM stack on top of our k8s layer.
What You'll Be Doing Architect and lead deployment of
HIPAA-compliant AWS infrastructure Define and enforce cloud
infrastructure standards, patterns, and best practices across
teams. Implement encryption at rest and in transit, audit logging,
and access controls aligned with HIPAA requirements. Lead technical
delivery of infrastructure components, addressing risk, privacy,
cybersecurity, and compliance constraints. Design and implement
Kubernetes clusters in regulated environments with strong security
posture. Apply and Review Infrastructure as Code practices using
Terraform/Pulumi Mentor engineers and foster a culture of technical
excellence in cloud, k8s and AI. Drive innovation by prototyping
new infrastructure capabilities and evaluating emerging
technologies. Ensure infrastructure aligns with Lilly’s digital
health strategy and roadmap. Basic Requirements Bachelors or
Masters in an Engineering discipline; Computer Science, Electronic
etc. 7 years of experience delivering cloud solutions across the
full lifecycle (design, deployment, operations). 5 years of
technical leadership experience in cloud infrastructure projects.
Experience running Kubernetes in regulated environments .
Experience implementing Kubernetes security K8 (pod/network
policies, secrets management, container scanning) Qualified
candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United

Qualifications Experience with service mesh architectures (Istio,
ambient, etc.) Kafka MirrorMaker, Crossplane, Familiarity with GxP
validation processes in healthcare or pharma. Experience
architecting infrastructure for highly regulated environments
(healthcare, pharma, or financial services). Hands-on experience
with identity management. Familiarity with GitHub, Jira/Confluence,
and modern collaboration toolsets. Demonstrated ability to propose
and implement innovative infrastructure solutions. High
intellectual curiosity and passion for cloud infrastructure
engineering. Deep expertise in AWS services Strong understanding of
HIPAA compliance requirements (BAAs, encryption, audit logging,
access controls). Infrastructure as Code experience

on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic
location. The anticipated wage for this position is $141,000 -
$224,400 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a
company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual
performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit
