• The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of --Lead Behavioral Services Counselor-- --required at West Central Georgia Regional Hospital, located in Columbus, GA. The department is searching for a h ighly qualified behavior intervention specialist with knowledge and skills necessary to assist individuals, staff and the hospital system through the development and application of positive behavior support plans and interventions. The Counselor will help coordinate Functional Assessments of Behavior and Behavior Intervention Plan that address individuals' with ongoing moderate or high risk for maladaptive behaviors. Alongside the licensed psychology, the counselor will be responsible to develop proactive strategies to provide the best treatment for the individual. Responsibilities:
  • Observe and assess patients' behavior.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to address behavioral issues.
  • Responsible for auditing all behavioral services data and for completing all quality management performance measures Qualifications
    • Exceptional knowledge of function-based intervention planning for developing behavior change strategies that focuses on reducing maladaptive behavior and increase the quality of the individuals lives. Minimum of two years.
    • Exceptional knowledge of techniques needed to successfully complete effectively functional behavior interventions and Behavior Intervention Plans that will facilitate the necessary skills for growth and community support. Minimum of two years.
    • Exceptional knowledge in the use of assessment and assessment data to inform instruction and prescribe treatment plans for the individual's. Minimum of two years.
    • Master Degree in Counseling or Psychology from an accredited school
    • Licensed in the State of Georgia (LPC)

Qualifications : Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Three years of experience performing work related to area of assignment, One year of which in a supervisory role OR Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Five years of experience performing work related to area of assignment, Two years of which in a supervisory role OR One year of experience at the lower level Healthcare Prgm Consultant 3 (HCP092) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require licensure. Preferred Qualifications - External : Licensed staff in Counseling or Psychology from an accredited college or university (LPC)
