EITS provides expert technical support services to Indiana University executive offices and University Information Technology Services (UITS) units. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we believe in each person's potential, and we'll help you reach yours.Job SummaryFundamental Responsibilities: Provides technical consulting, advising, and systems analysis services for client-supported software and systems. Utilizing system analysis techniques and procedures, conducts research and evaluates use of existing technology solutions and their future releases, new product releases of client software, and emerging technologies, applications, and industry trends. Provides advice for best practices of deployment of collaboration solutions; partners with appropriate technical staff on unique problems requiring specialized knowledge. Stays up-to-date on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices; makes recommendations to improve IT support processes and procedures. Communicates effectively with clients in resolving escalated issues. May provide informal and formal training to faculty staff and students on information technology. Adheres to documentation standards (issues, resolutions, updates/changes). Other departmental responsibilities: Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots Windows and Macintosh systems. Troubleshoots iOS and Android mobile devices. Troubleshoots a wide variety of issues leading to efficient and productive solutions. Maintains knowledge of IU central systems such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Microsoft Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft OneDrive, and Google Drive. Places orders for Windows and Macintosh systems and peripherals. Deploys managed systems using central Windows (SCCM) and Macintosh (Jamf) device management and maintains inventory though a managed database. Assists with software deployment and configuration. Ensures compliance with IU policies related to computer security, maintenance, and deployment. Coordinates or performs hardware repairs and warranty repairs and replacements. Participates as a collaborative and positive team member within a large and diverse IT organization. Participates in a weeklong, on-call rotation 3 to 4 times a year, providing after-hours emergency support for executive offices. Works independently with very little supervision in a team that operates 24x7x365. QualificationsEDUCATIONRequiredBachelor's degreePreferredDegree in computer science or related fieldWORK EXPERIENCEPreferred2 years of experience providing technical computing support to users via direct consultation, development and delivery of computing education, writing user documentation, or related experienceCombination of related education and experience may be considered.SKILLSFamiliarity with recent Microsoft Windows and Macintosh client OSes, Microsoft Exchange, and common email clients.Knowledge of and skill in recent Microsoft Office suite.Sound understanding of network fundamentals and understanding and application of existing industry best practices.Proficient communication skills.Excellent organizational skills.Maintains a high degree of professionalism.Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.Demonstrates a high commitment to quality.Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty.Friendly and service oriented.Working Conditions / DemandsThis position requires the ability to communicate effectively and to operate computers and other related technical equipment. The role requires maintaining and interacting with computers, interacting with clients, and frequently moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
