The Alumni Communities Team works with unit partners, alumni, donors, and volunteers from across the university, on each IU campus, and across the globe. Job SummaryThe Communications and Content Creation Fellow will primarily be responsible for creating content and designing materials that enhance our current programming and communications designed for alumni and volunteers from each of Indiana University's nine campuses and centers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Writing and sending a weekly newsletter to all volunteers designed to update and engage them on IUAA activities.
    • Designing social media posts and other forms of digital material/marketing content that complement our Chartered Communities campaigns and major department initiatives/programs.
    • Creating content for the Virtual Alumni Network and social media channels, with alumni volunteers as the primary audience.
    • May also play a role in other operations projects designed to increase the engagement of volunteers and alumni. In alignment with our efforts related to diversity, equity, and belonging, the Fellow will also play a role in helping to highlight the experiences and impact of our alumni from traditionally marginalized backgrounds. This will include creating communications designed to celebrate IU and the IUAA's commitment to inclusion, and shining a spotlight on the good work of our identity-based alumni communities. Students hired will have two roles in the Alumni Association:
      • Leadership for the Student Alumni Association (SAA), IUAA's official student group that collaborates on SAA outreach, Homecoming and all Homecoming-related events.
      • A Team Member in one of the individual IUAA departments. Note: This position is for Academic Year 2022-2023 with the potential to extend to future semesters. QualificationsEDUCATIONRequired

          • Excellent written communication skills.
          • Attention to detail.
          • Experience creating communications (social media campaigns, newsletters) for a defined audience.
          • Embraces working as a member of a team and brings a collaborative attitude to the work.
          • Highly resourceful and self-motivated with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Preferred
            • Experience creating and executing a content/social media plan, and designing digital marketing materials for social media and other web-based platforms.
            • Experience with design software (such as InDesign or Photoshop).
            • Demonstrates eagerness and commitment to learning about the identities and cultures of various alumni populations, including alumni of color, LGBTQ+ alumni, and international alumni, and dedicated to ensuring they are appropriately represented in alumni communications.Work LocationVirgil T.
