  • Helps maintain a safe library environment during overnight hours in the Wells Library Learning Commons. Reporting to the Evening Operations Manager, staff are expected to maintain library policies and support IU students as they support student learning.
  • Offering friendly and inclusive support to students using the Learning Commons
  • Helps resolve disputes or incidents
  • Responds to situations through appropriate communication channels
  • Monitors public spaces to ensure safety
  • Responds to and follows procedures for emergency weather situationsQualificationsEDUCATIONRequired
    • High School diploma or GEDWORK EXPERIENCEPreferred
      • Customer Service ExperienceSKILLSRequired
        • Ability to work independently.
        • Excellent communication skills.
        • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to interact tactfully and the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
        • Ability to support and comply with all Indiana University and Libraries, and the ability to keep abreast of policies and procedures that are subject to frequent change.Working Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. This position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends and remain consistent with attendance during the evening hours.The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
