Job Description:

The Martin County Commissioners are looking for a Human Resource Associate that will develop practices and will deliver an exceptional experience to employees throughout the employee life cycle - from hiring, onboarding, developing and offboarding.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Monitor employment law and regulations, policies, programs, tools, resources and best practices and incorporate those within our organization.
* Maintain employee handbook of policies and procedures, keeping it up to date and in compliance with applicable regulations and industry best practices
* Administer benefits including health and welfare and retirement savings plan and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
* Manage FMLA requests, leave of absence requests, military, jury and bereavement, and catastrophic leave.
* Prepare and process new hire paperwork along with conducting new hire orientation
* Manage drug and background screening process
* Monitor and update company wage and salary structures/pay policies.
* Develop and recommend strategic benefit offerings, contribution strategies and employee information sessions geared at improving employee retention and satisfaction
* Maintain job descriptions for all positions.
* Support team management by providing HR counsel, mediation, workshops, trainings and best practices on issues such as non-performing employees and improving and developing employee skills.
* Write and place ads on a variety of recruiting platforms.
* Manage liability claims.
* Evaluate, assess, and update safety procedures and policies to ensure worker safety and compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards
* Prepare and conduct safety training sessions, documenting employee participation
* Conduct injury and incident inquiries and evaluations and prepare recommendations for incident prevention
* Responsible for OSHA record-keeping and Workers Compensation incidents and reports
* Manage unemployment claims, issues, documentation, protests and hearing.

Must be proficient in Microsoft applications and have prior experience in Human Resources.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $18.00 per hour
