InformationThe College of Arts and Sciences is the largest academic
unit at Indiana University Bloomington. It is composed of 40+

https://college.indiana.edu/ Job SummaryThe Planning Assistant has
a key role in The College. The incumbent will work closely with the
Director, and Educational Facilities Planner, to process all
space-related projects within The College. Impact is considerable
in developing professional, efficient and customer-service oriented
services. It is also crucial in fostering relationships which value
the needs and expectations of The College units.Department Specific
Responsibilities
- Provides space management and planning/design support for the
Director and all College units.
- Reviews space planning requirements and apply College specified
standards in order to create a balance of aesthetic and function in
each space.
- Drafts functional interior space plans for faculty, staff, and
professors. This includes applying codes, drafting functional
interior spaces, and plotting spaces to scale.
- Evaluates space planning requirements & requests, applies
space-use standards/applicable codes, and prepares draft functional
interior space fit plans/analysis to create an optimal balance of
space and utility
- Analyzes and interprets current space allocations in the
College in relation to current and projected space requirements.
This includes assisting with the current College Space inventory
database development and maintenance.
- Analyzes and interprets space allocations, utilization,
projections and other space-related information relative to current
and projected space requirements for decision-support, including
assisting with the College space inventory database development and
maintenance.
- Places orders independently as well as working directly with
interior design to purchase and order furniture that needs to be
replaced
- Assists with development of presentation documents for
space-related projects;
- Other projects as assignedQualificationsEDUCATION Required
- Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Planning or Architecture
(or closely related discipline) from an accredited university
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Required
- Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured
by Indiana University SKILLS Required
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills - verbal and
written
- Proficient in AutoCAD (latest version) and InDesign; Basic
revit knowledge
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrate a reliable, responsive and positive work-ethic with
the highest degree of integrity at all times Work
LocationBloomington, Indiana This position is eligible for remote
work or to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person
work), subject to change in the future based on university policy
