2nd shiftPOSITION SUMMARY:Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, this person is responsible for developing welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties, and characteristics of metals, metal alloys, and engineering principles.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Conducts research to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures
  • Improve existing or develop new welding equipment
  • Develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques and procedures
  • Discover new patterns of welding technology
  • Prepares technical reports as a result of research, development and preventative maintenance investigations
  • Establish weld procedures to guide production team relating to specifications/processes
  • Evaluate new developments in the welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes
  • Coordinated technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure worker's compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing welds for compliance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for certification
  • Performs experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials
  • Perform other essential welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials
  • Perform any other functions as assigned
  • Treats all other team members with respect and dignityJOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or the equivalent in experience. Three (3) - or more years of experience in the field, preferably with an automotive supplier.SPECIAL SKILLS:Computer literate.MAJOR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:Team members must be able to stand on concrete floor for the duration of workshift, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, bend to the floor, and use arms and hands. - The team member must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and repetitively lift 10 - 20 pounds to a height of 48 inches. - Visual precision is needed for reading documents, machine dial gauges, and possibly blueprints and precision measuring instruments.WORKING CONDITIONSStamping and assembly factory environment, and subject to high noise levels from operational machines and physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
