Job Description Job Title: Nutritionist – Remote Position
Position Summary Midwestern Pet Foods, Inc., a family-owned company
with a proud legacy of producing high-quality pet food since the
1940s, is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Nutritionist. This
role is vital to our mission of delivering high-quality,
results-driven pet food that pet owners trust and pets love. The
ideal candidate will bring scientific expertise, creativity, and
collaborative spirit to help us continue our legacy of excellence
in pet nutrition. Key Responsibilities · Develop and formulate
AAFCO- and state-compliant recipes that are nutritious, safe, and
appealing to pets. · Uphold and enhance our long-standing
commitment to producing safe, healthy, and delicious pet food. ·
Serve in a strategic leadership capacity reporting directly to the
Chief Operating Officer. · Ensure all recipes meet internal quality
standards and product specifications. · Stay current with
scientific and technical advancements in companion animal
nutrition. · Evaluate emerging ingredients, nutritional
technologies, and scientific advancements to inform product
development and long-term innovation. · Maintain accurate
documentation to support product label compliance, feeding
guidelines, nutritional adequacy statements, and marketing claims.
· Participate in feeding trials and related research, ensuring data
collection, analysis and application of findings to improved
program outcomes. · Collaborate with Purchasing and Quality
Assurance teams to ensure ingredient quality and nutritional
integrity. · Support the Consumer Service team by providing expert,
professional responses to customer inquiries. · Partner with
Marketing and Sales teams to share nutritional insights that
support product positioning and sales growth. · Build, maintain,
and strengthen relationships with third-party nutrition partners,
research organizations, vendors, and other subject matter experts
to support program success. · Drive long term innovation by
identifying opportunities, and strategic priorities related to
nutrition programs and aligning with organizational objectives. ·
Travel up to 10% as needed for business purposes. Qualifications ·
Master of Science in Animal Nutrition (Companion Animal Nutrition
strongly preferred). · Deep understanding of canine and feline
nutrition and related scientific disciplines. · Ability to operate
with a high level of autonomy, including authority to develop,
recommend and execute strategic initiatives. · Proven experience in
developing pet food formulations. · Familiarity with dry food
manufacturing processes and operations. · Strong communication
skills, both written and verbal. · Ability to manage multiple
priorities in a fast-paced environment. · Self-motivated,
collaborative, and capable of working independently. Benefits
