This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of the collections process, advanced excel skills, reconciliation, general ledger (GL), and the transportation industry. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role and be ready to hit the ground running. This position will be responsible for managing a team, implementing strategies to increase the number of successful collections, and ensuring compliance with state and federal collections laws. Responsibilities: Oversee and manage the daily operations of the collections department. Develop and implement strategies to increase the number of successful collections. Ensure compliance with state and federal collections laws and regulations. Manage a team of collections professionals, providing training and development opportunities as needed. Work closely with other departments to reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies. Use advanced excel skills to track collections efforts, generate reports, and analyze data. Regularly review and update collections policies and procedures. Communicate effectively with customers, negotiating payment plans and settlements as needed. Collaborate with the legal department on collections cases that require legal action. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and changes in collections laws. Qualifications: Minimum of five years of experience in a collections role, preferably in a managerial position. Strong understanding of the collections process, including state and federal collections laws. Advanced excel skills, including the ability to generate reports and analyze data. Experience reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies. Knowledge of the transportation industry preferred. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Proven track record of successful collections efforts.
